FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, particularly, to twin-unit diesel locomotives. Proposed method consists in optimising power plant operating conditions by combining power sources. Track horizontal and vertical profile and state, and meteorological and climatic factors are controlled to set diesel locomotive operating conditions via continuous parameter monitoring systems. Power plant operating conditions are optimised by combining operation of diesel generators. At low loads and idling, small-size diesel generator is switched on. At medium loads, larger-size diesel generator is switched on. At high loads, both diesel generators are switched on. Note here that small-size diesel generator is loaded by locomotive heating systems and traction motor drying systems. Proposed locomotive consists of first unit with small-size diesel generator and second unit with diesel generator output exceeding that of first unit.
EFFECT: optimised operation.
