FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in the method and measuring device for contactless determination of the spatial form of structural elements, for example bent pipes, each structural element is successively illuminated along its outline by at least one light source, preferably a light-emitting diode, and shadows formed by the structural element are detected by at least one photodetector, preferably on charge-coupled devices, thereby initiating analysis of measurement results. The measuring device has a navigation system, particularly for manual movement thereof.
EFFECT: obtained data can be sent to a processing machine wirelessly, through a cable or using a plug-in USB element.
