FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: holder for containing an optical connector ferrule to which a short optical fibre is fitted comprises: a housing configured to hold the optical connector ferrule, and a lid connected to the housing with possibility of rotation. The lid is configured to press the optical connector ferrule to position the short optical fibre when the lid is closed via a dust cap which is in contact with and covers the optical connector ferrule. The holder is configured to be fitted to a fusion splicing apparatus which fusion-splices the short optical fibre and other coated optical fibre.
EFFECT: protecting an optical connector ferrule with a short optical fibre from external impacts or the like, and fusion-splicing a short optical fibre without removing the optical connector ferrule from the holder.
