METHOD OF DIAGNOSING OBSTRUCTIVE IMPAIRMENT OF PATENCY OF AIRWAYS IN PATIENTS ON APPARATUS BREATHING Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B5/08

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for patients who are on apparatus lung ventilation. For this purpose aerodynamic resistance of airways (Raw) is measured. First, proper aerodynamic resistance of airways (Raw proper) is calculated by formulas: Rawproper=250/(10h2+a+3), for patients from 0 to 30 years old, Rawproper=250/(10h2+a+3)+(a-30)/10, for patients over 30 years old, where: Rawproper  is proper aerodynamic resistance of airways, cm water column/l/s; h is patient's height, in metres; a is patient's age, in years, for patients under 1 year old "a" value is taken equal 1; 250, 10 and 3 are coefficients, specified on the basis of mathematical analysis. After that, aerodynamic resistance of airways (Raw) is measured with further calculation of ratio Raw proper/Raw. If value of ratio is higher than 0.8, absence of obstructive impairment is diagnosed. If value is from 0.8 to 0.5, 1 degree of obstructive impairment is diagnosed. If value of ratio is from 0.49 to 0.3, 2 degree of obstructive impairment is diagnosed. If value of ratio is from 0.29 and lower, 3 degree of obstructive impairment is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method ensures efficient diagnostics of obstructive impairment in said category of patients due to determination of relative value of aerodynamic resistance of airways (further - Raw) taking into account individual anthropometric parameters.
