FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: speed regulator operation monitoring method of internal combustion engine (2) consists in the fact that it is found out that the specified speed is exceeded in case actual speed (ωist) of internal combustion engine exceeds the specified speed (ωsoll) by more than the specified by more than the specified threshold value (SW). If it is found out that the specified speed is exceeded, control (S) of speed regulator is restricted with limit control action (Mmax) declining in time. Engine control device implementing the proposed method is described.

EFFECT: it is ensured that at too high deviation of speed from the specified value the control action of the regulator will decrease to zero during the time period that should be observed in each certain case without any necessity of checking the regulator parameters specified for final use.
