FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry. The furnace for steam reforming of a hydrocarbon fraction has a set of vertical bayoneted tubes 4, suspended from the top part of said furnace and partially filled with a nickel-based catalyst. Said tubes are distributed in form of parallel rows. Heat needed for the steam reforming reaction is provided for the tubes with the catalyst by combustion through long porous burners 3 lying in form of rows between rows of the heated tubes. The furnace has draught tubes 6 and channels 5 for feeding air. Fuel used to feed the porous long burners contains hydrogen in amount of 5-100 mol %. Air coming into the combustion zone is fed into the furnace after preheating to temperature of about 600°C and preferably higher than 700°C.
EFFECT: high efficiency of reforming.
