FIELD: catalytic reactor.
SUBSTANCE: catalytic reactor includes a combustion reaction chamber with a plurality of catalytic reactor tubes and at least one burner. The tubes are at least partially filled with catalyst elements. The combustion reaction chamber further includes one or more metal radiating surfaces located between the tubes and having a length of at least half the length of the tubes. At least a portion of the metal radiating surface is located at a distance from the burner sufficiently small to allow heat from the combustion reaction to be absorbed by the metal radiating surface to improve heat transfer and/or equalize the heat transfer profile from the combustion reaction to the reactor tubes and catalyst elements during operation of the catalytic reactor. The metal radiating surfaces are radiating surfaces made of woven metal or made of a metal mesh and are located so close to at least one burner that the flame of the burner will create flame contact with the radiating surfaces.
EFFECT: uniform temperature profile along the reactor tubes.
