FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry and can be used in catalyst and sorbent technology. Copper metal powder is treated with a steam-ammonia-oxygen mixture in weight ratio H2O:NH3:O2=(5-25):(5-20):(55-90). The obtained mass is further calcined at temperature 200-400°C.
EFFECT: method increases specific surface area and activity of copper oxide, which enables its use in producing a catalyst for converting carbon monoxide in ammonia production.
