FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: according to the method of determining phase of an object beam on a photodetector pixel, at least three values of energy received by the photodetector pixel during exposure are determined at different phase values of the reference beam. To determine at least one value of energy received by the pixel, a curve of pixel brightness versus time, while varying the position of the phase modulator, is plotted and the obtained curve is integrated on the interval of the exposure time. According to the method of obtaining a phase image of the object, a series of intermediate phase values of the object beam at different current phase shift of the reference beam is obtained. The final phase value of the object beam on each pixel is that intermediate value whose determination error is minimum. Final phase values of each pixel of the group are used to obtain the phase image of the object.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining phase of an object beam.
