FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: object is monitored using two optical devices with parallel optical axes. The optical devices enable to obtain two images of the object via central projection on measurement planes placed perpendicular to the optical axes, spaced apart on a known base. Measuring coordinate axes, one of which is parallel to the base, pass through projection points of the optical axes on measurement planes. Coordinates of boundary points of images of the object on two axes of plane measuring coordinate systems are measured, from which the distance and dimensions of the object are estimated using the distance from the optical device to the measurement plane as a reference parameter. Images of the sides of the object are selected based on their identical brightness. Dimensions of corresponding sides of the object obtained on the same coordinate axes are measured and compared. Geometric estimation of distances of the object and its sides in the central projection coordinate system is performed.
EFFECT: high accuracy, rapidness and reliability, easy determination of distance and dimensions of an object based on photogrammetric measurement results and processing thereof during the measurement process.
