FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: when making a decision on target detection on the current scan in a lock-on or tracking gate upon detection of an object in the lock-on or tracking gate, the region of radar coverage in which a reflecting object was detected during the previous scan is additionally scanned, for which an additional gate is formed. No object detected in the additional gate indicates that a target was detected in the lock-on or tracking gate, and further operation for locking-on or tracking its path is carried out. An object detected in the additional gate indicates that another object was detected in the lock-on or tracking gate, and an operation for locking on its path is carried out. Tracking of the target path, if performed on previous scans, is continued while detecting misses in its detection in the current tracking gate.

EFFECT: fewer false paths when tracking target paths in passive jamming conditions.
