FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar, particularly protection of surveillance radar stations from passive jamming in the form of detected signal accumulations, e.g., in blast regions of surface-to-air missiles. Boundaries of blanking regions of detected signal accumulations are determined during regular surveillance of the zone of the radar station automatically in a "sliding window" with dimensions equal to the dimensions of the trajectory capturing gate, wherein the region of the surveillance zone in the "sliding window" is considered to belong to the blanking region if the density of detected signals calculated therein exceeds a threshold. The method includes, beyond the blanking regions, detecting and tracking trajectories of targets for which the heading velocity does not exceed the given threshold, and the vector of the heading velocity differs from the vertical direction by a value greater than the given threshold.
EFFECT: reducing delay in determining and establishing boundaries of blanking regions of detected signal accumulations, high accuracy of determining said boundaries and more reliable detection of target trajectories beyond the blanking regions.
