FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing and feeding an analysed sample in form of a solution using a pneumatic spray system through a flexible capillary into the flame of the burner of an atomic absorption spectrometer with subsequent mathematical processing of absorption signals to determine concentration of the analysed element. The method is characterised by that, before feeding the next sample, the inside of the spray system, burner and burner slits are cleaned by passing a water vapour-saturated mixture of potassium iodide and elementary iodine (KJ+J2). The analysed sample is then fed into a high-temperature flame of acetylene dinitroxide to carry out an atomisation process while simultaneously introducing into the analysed sample and calibration solutions, volatile, thermally unstable compounds - evaporating additives in form of salts of alkali metals or ammonium salts, having lower vaporisation temperature than that of gold.
EFFECT: use of the present method increases reproducibility and accuracy of analysis owing to more accurate characteristics of the calibration function, low memory effect from the previous sample.
