FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device has electrical receiving elements in form of plane-parallel three electrodes with different distances between them. Any pair of electrodes can be combined into a receiving element. The receiving elements are successively connected to a resistance measuring channel on alternating current and to a resistance and polarisation voltage measuring channel on direct current. The resistance range of the receiving elements is divided into subranges.

EFFECT: instantaneous determination of phase change of water and reduced effect of the phase of the water and impurities therein on accuracy of measuring thickness.
