FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: biometric personal identification method based on hand parameters involves selecting the outline of the hand and its separate parts, comparing the obtained features with values stored in a database, and determining individual geometric features of the hand by determining distance between separate areas of the palm, wherein determination of individual geometric features of the hand is carried out based on a binary image of the outline of the hand and the arm wrist; if there are breakages in the image, the image is augmented with shadow spots; the individual geometric features of the hand used are extreme values of distance from the centre of the palm to the ends of the fingers and depressions between them; and surface features of the hand are determined as an additional parameter; the surface features are the histogram of illumination along the middle line of a finger.
EFFECT: faster, reliable and easier personal identification procedure, including in automatic mode.
