FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to packing solid radioactive wastes while reducing their volume. The automatic pressing system for briquetting solid radioactive wastes has a vertical hydraulic press and is equipped with a program control system. The system serves a bridge-type manipulator which is mounted with possibility of coordinated movement and orientation of the bridge and a carriage with driven gripping device. The manipulator is mounted with possibility of automatic gripping of barrels with solid radioactive wastes from a table-shelf, placing the barrels on the movable platform of the press, loading the pressed briquettes into a container or placing aside a briquette table-accumulator. In the loading position of the movable platform of the press, there is a device for centering barrels with solid radioactive wastes on the axis of the press and there is punch for punching holes into the body of the barrels. A device for measuring briquette thickness is mounted on the bar of the gripping device of the carriage of the manipulator.

EFFECT: invention simplifies the design of the device, increases loading efficiency of the equipment, provides optimum reliability of its operation and easy control.
