FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly cardiology. It involves M-mode ultrasonic scanning. A distal portion of the cephalic artery is imaged 1-2 cm in the proximal direction from bifurcation along a short axis. Then an M-mode cursor is moved perpendicularly with crossing a centre of artery opening to form a maximally magnified image of a posterior wall of the artery. At scanning rate 50-100 mm/s, a systolic velocity of the posterior wall of the artery Vpws is measured from the highest point of an internal surface of the posterior wall of the artery. The value Vpws less than 5.0 mm/s enables stating reduction of the elastic properties of the vascular wall of the cephalic artery.
EFFECT: method enables accurate diagnosis ensured by assessment of movement of the posterior vascular wall.
