FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welding by fixed compressed arc and may be used for making overlapped joints by plug welding. Proposed method comprises exciting pilot arc and pressing parts to be welded together by plasma generator. Then working arc is switched on to penetrate both parts. Note here that point-type welding bath is produced. Fused metal is squeezed to welding bath edges to make through hole at point center with toroidal shape of edge flowing. Then arc acts on hole inner surface. Overlap boundary is heated and hole is preserved in crystallisation after switching the arc off.
EFFECT: higher strength of weld joint, reliable quality control.
