SUBSTANCE: invention refers to processing of high-molecular carbon-containing raw material, including heavy oil-containing fractions (fuel oil, waste motor or lubricating oils, oil sludges, etc.), resins of coal processing, processing of coal slates, wood, etc. to lighter compounds using physical action methods, and can be used in chemical and petrochemical industries for production of finished products and semi-finished products of organic synthesis. Invention refers to thermal processing method of high-molecular carbon-containing raw material to lighter compounds, which involves activation by means of electromagnetic field of microwave frequency (MF EMF) of impurities present in basic substance and/or additionally added to basic substance; at that, by controlling the time and/or power of MF EMF the impurities are activated before being introduced to working zone or directly in the working reaction zone.

EFFECT: increasing electromagnetic energy use efficiency and improving environmental purity of thermal processing of high-molecular carbon-containing raw material to lighter compounds.
