FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: display device includes a display unit, a unit (22) for controlling image display by applying electrode drive signals to electrodes of the display unit, where the voltage levels of said signals vary with a defined cycle, a touchpad unit and a touchpad control unit (21) which obtains a position detection signal by applying a scanning signal to the touchpad unit. The touchpad control unit (21) applies a scanning signal three or more times in a cycle in which voltage levels of electrode drive signals vary and compares the obtained signals, determines position information indicated by two or more position detection signals which indicate the same result as information on the correct position, and outputs information on the defined position as a position signal. The scanning signal is generated synchronously with a counter clock signal obtained by counting a clock signal using a line-synchronising signal as a reference signal.
EFFECT: obtaining information on the correct position, free from the effect of noise from the touchpad unit even when the noise was generated as a result of applying an electrode drive signal for image display to the image display unit.
