FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to silicon oxide-based inorganic fibre which is resistant to high temperatures. The high temperature-resistant silicon oxide-based inorganic fibre contains the following components in wt %: SiO2 - 81-94; Al2O3 - 6-19; ZrO2 and/or TiO2 - 2-12; Na2O - 0-3; 1.5 wt % other components. Glass melt of the following composition is obtained, wt %: SiO2 - 55-80; Al2O3 - 5-19; Na2O - 15-26; ZrO2 - 0-12; TiO2 - 0-12; 1.5 wt % other components. Threads or spun fibres are formed from the melt. The obtained threads or spun fibres undergo acid extraction. The extracted threads or spun fibres are washed to remove acid residues and/or salt residues and then dried.

EFFECT: improved mechanical properties of glass fibre.
