FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: flow meter housing (100) has a flow inlet (102), a flow passage (104) and a flow passage outlet (106). A shedder bar (108) is placed in the flow passage (104). A sensor (110) is connected to the flow passage. The sensor detects flow vortices (148) shed from the shedder bar. A flow meter outlet surface (114) is joined to the flow passage outlet (106) and extends to an outer edge (116). The flow meter outlet surface (114) includes an annular groove (118) which can interact with local vortices (120, 122) shed from the flow passage outlet.
EFFECT: reduced backward movement of undesirable local vortices to the sensor, reduced coupling of noise to the sensor, high accuracy of sensors and high accuracy of measuring flow rate.
