SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a system for monitoring a hydrocyclone. The hydrocyclone monitoring system comprises a hydrocyclone containing a separation chamber with an inlet element for supplying the introduced mixture into the separation chamber and a first and a second outlet elements for releasing the flows of the corresponding first and second components of the mixture from the separation chamber. The hydrocyclone monitoring system additionally comprises a tubular element and a measuring unit. The tubular element is connected with the first outlet element and forms a channel for diverting the flow of the first component released from the separation chamber. The measuring unit is configured to determine the characteristics of flow of the first component in the channel. The hydrocyclone monitoring system additionally comprises a data processing system configured to receive measurement data from the measuring unit, indicating the characteristics of flow of the first component, and to determine the operation mode of the hydrocyclone based on the measurement data. Also disclosed is a method for monitoring a hydrocyclone. A characteristic feature of the solution is the presence of a membrane in communication with the fluid chamber of the hydrocyclone and the determination of vibrations thereof. This provides a possibility of determining the characteristics of oscillations specifically of the air core of the flow, which may not depend on and differ from the oscillations in the physical components of the hydrocyclone.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the operating mode/working characteristic of the hydrocyclone.
