FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: display device has a display module having pixels, each including an illumination element for individual light emission depending on current, and a pixel circuit for controlling current fed into the illumination element in accordance with the image signal, scanning lines through which a pixel selection signal, for emitting light, is transmitted to pixels in a given scanning cycle, and data lines through which the image signal is transmitted to pixels. The device has a luminance value detector for detecting input of an image signal with a linear characteristic; an illumination time calculator for calculating illumination time for the illumination element based on the luminance value; an illumination time recording unit; a unit for obtaining brightness for obtaining information on brightness of an illumination element using the illumination time; a coefficient calculator for calculating a coefficient by which the image signal is multiplied, based on the information on brightness obtained in the unit for obtaining brightness; and a coefficient multiplier for multiplying the image signal by the coefficient.
EFFECT: improved colour balance of images.
