FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of displaying, specifically to a display having light-emitting elements which separately become luminous depending on current. The result is achieved due to that the light-emitting elements are arranged in matrix form and the display device has a light emission amount regulator for setting a reference duty for regulating the light emission amount per unit time for each of the light-emitting elements according to image information of the input image signal; an adjuster for adjusting, based on the reference duty, the effective duty, which regulates the light emission time during which light-emitting elements become luminous within unit time so that the effective duty lies within a given range, and for adjusting image signal gain such that the light emission amount regulated using the duty and the image signal gain is equal to the light emission amount regulated using the reference duty.
EFFECT: controlling light emission time per unit time based on an input image signal in order to prevent flow of excess current through light-emitting elements and controlling image signal gain.
