FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: compositions contain a) a tin (II) ion source, b) a source of polyvalent cations specified in zinc (Zn+2), copper (Cu+2), aluminium (Al+3), iron (Fe+2, Fe+3), strontium (Sr+2), calcium (Ca+2), barium (Ba+2), magnesium (Mg+2), manganese (Mn+2) or their mixture in the amount sufficient to provide a molar ratio of polyvalent cations to tin (II) within the range of 1.5:1-3:1, c) an agent active with respect to mineral surfaces, showing substantivity with respect to teeth and chelating activity with respect to tin (II) and said polyvalent cations and specified in polycarboxylates or carboxy-substituted polymers or their mixture; and d) abrasive polish containing silicone dioxide. What is also presented is an oral care procedure for reduction of plaque and gingivitis with the use of said compositions. The compositions may be prepared in the form of one-phase or two-phase compositions.
EFFECT: formulation of the compositions provides higher stability, bioavailability and effectiveness of tin and optimal antimicrobial activity of the compositions with a low level of teeth staining, as well as low bonding properties that leads to improved aesthetic characteristics of the composition.
