FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: diagnosing mercury encephalopathy in small laboratory animals is ensured by examination of the central nervous system state in control and experiment animals after inhalation of metal mercury vapours.With the use of survey microscopy, cortex sections are examined for unchanged neuron count, total neuron count and dystrophic neuron count It is followed by calculation of the relation of unchanged neuron count on experiment preparations to such on control preparations (%) and a portion of dystrophic neuron count of total neuron count on experiment preparations (%)Electron microscopy is used to calculate a neuron nucleus area If observing unchanged neuron count on experiment preparations with respect to the same value in the control group by more than 51%, increase of dystrophic neuron count of total neuron count in experiment preparations more than by 8,9%, increase of neuron nucleus area on experiment preparations by more than 50% of nucleus area on control groups, the presence of mercury encephalopathy in the animals exposed to mercury vapours is stated.
EFFECT: technique enables diagnosing mercury encephalopathy in small laboratory animals in modelling by assessment of morphometric disorders in cerebral nervous tissue of animals after mercury inhalations
