FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to ophthalmology, and can be used for estimation of stage of initial open angle glaucoma progressing. For an individual patient with diagnosed initial open angle glaucoma of stage S0, already stated by clinical methods, the following examination is performed: thermal imaging measurement of temperature of anterior part of eye with determination of mean temperature of joined zone of cornea and limb T0, then, as glaucoma process progresses mean temperature of the said zone Teye is re-measured for the same patient and stage of initial open angle glaucoma- S(Teye) is estimated by formula where C1=78. To eliminate errors measurements of mean temperature of cornea and sclera zone are performed at the end of act of winking at the moment prior to next closing of eyelid, when temperature of cornea stabilises.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to estimate stage of initial open angle glaucoma, as well as increase accuracy of stage determination due to provision of possibility of detecting intermediate stages in transition from current stage of open angle glaucoma to the following one.
