FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to paint and varnish industry. Complex manganese and nickel vanadate Mn2-2xNi2xV2O7, where 0.20≤x≤0.27; can be sued as dark pigment, reflacting irradiation in IR range. Method of obtaining complex manganese and nickel vanadate of said composition includes preparation of initial mixture of ingredients, containing Mn2V2O7 and Ni2V2O7, taken in ratio (0.73÷80):(0.27÷0,20), respectively. After that, mixture is grinded in presence of ethyl alcohol and burnt in air at temperature 700-710 °C for 5-6 hours, with further crushing, and then at temperature 750-760°C for 40-42 hours with crushing after 10-hour burning.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain dark pigment with high reflecting ability in IR range, heat resistant both at room and at higher temperatures, chemically stable in wide range of medium pH values.
