FIELD: machine building; pipeline.

SUBSTANCE: detection method of stripping of corrosion-resistant coating of underground pipeline insulated with polymer tapes involves excavation of pipeline, visual inspection and non-destructive examination of the coating. In order to reduce labour intensity and increase the safety of the above method, excavation is performed up to its upper surface, thickness of coating at the pipeline top is measured, according to which the conclusion is made on availability of coating stripping across the pipeline section. Coating thickness is measured by means of magnetic thickness gauge. Presence of coating stripping is estimated when the sections of coating with thickness of less than 0.8 of thickness of the coating of that type in a non-defective section is determined. In addition, presence of coating stripping is estimated as per cracking of the coating, the direction of which coincides with pipeline axis.

EFFECT: reduction of labour intensity and increase in safety of the method.
