FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: what is described is a method for assessing hyperchloremic acidosis involving evaluation of the patient's blood plasma ion concentration wherein the Na and Cl concentrations, the amount of the introduced solution and patient's weight are additionally determined in the introduced solution; the relation is calculated [Na+]/[Cl-]=(Nap+(((Nas-Nap)*(V/1000))/(0.2*B)))/(Clp+(((Cls-Clp)*(V/1000))/(0.2*B))), wherein: Nap is the patient's blood Na concentration, mmole/l, Nas is the solution Na concentration, mmole/l, Clp is the patient's blood Cl concentration, mmole/l, Cls is the solution Cl concentration, mmole/l, V is the amount of the introduced solution, ml, B is patient's weight, kg; provided [Na+]/[Cl-] = less than 1.28, then hyperchloremic acidosis caused by infusion therapy is diagnosed; and if the relation [Na+]/[Cl-] is 1.28 or more, the absence of hyperchloremic acidosis following infusion therapy is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method enables predicting, specifying quantitative and qualitative composition of the infusion solutions thereby enabling preventing the developing iatrogenic complication following HCA.
