SUBSTANCE: device has a first substrate lying in the side of the viewer, and a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer consisting of twisted nematic liquid crystals, which lies between the first and second substrates, the twisting angle of which is essentially 90° in the thickness direction between the first and second substrates; first and second polarisation plates; and a biaxial phase plate lying between the first and second polarisation plates and has first and second biaxial plates. The axis of absorption of the first polarisation plate essentially passes at an angle of 90° to the planar slow axis of the first biaxial phase plate, and the axis of absorption of the second polarisation plate essentially passes at an angle of 90° to the planar slow axis of the second biaxial phase plate.

EFFECT: improved angle of view of an image and efficient use of materials.
