SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of purifying uranium hexafluoride from volatile impurities and can be used to improve the quality and reduce the production cost of gas-separation products. The method of purifying uranium hexafluoride from volatile impurities involves turning uranium hexafluoride into liquid state, holding the liquid uranium hexafluoride at temperature of 80-100°C in an open container for a period of time sufficient for concentrating the volatile impurities in the surface layer of the liquid, while forming a layer of purified uranium hexafluoride and then overflowing the purified uranium hexafluoride into another container. The time for holding the liquid uranium hexafluoride is not shorter than the value 2.0563·10^-3·m_HFU/D_K ², where m_HFU is the mass of uranium hexafluoride in the container, kg, D_C is the diameter of the container, m, and the mass rate of overflow, kg/s, which prevents mixing of the purified uranium hexafluoride with the surface layer is kept not higher than a value 694.725·10^-4·D², where D is the diameter of the container.

EFFECT: invention provides a simpler method of purifying uranium hexafluoride and enables to obtain uranium hexafluoride with purity of over 99,95%.
