FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device has a light source consisting of columns and rows of light-sensitive cells of a rectangular CCD matrix which is connected to a recording apparatus, a plane gate placed in between, which partially overlaps light flux from the light source onto the CCD matrix. The boundary of the plane gate, which divides the CCD matrix into an illuminated zone and a dark zone, which completely cover at least one column, lies asymmetrically relative the direction of the columns of light-sensitive cells of the CCD matrix. The CCD matrix is joined to a fixed base. The plane gate is joined an object or its deformed part. An optical system can be placed between the light source and the CCD matrix, said system increasing contrast of the image of the boundary of the gate on the surface of the CCD matrix and sensitivity of the device. The shape of the boundary of the plane gate can be asymmetrical relative the direction of the columns in form of a straight line with inclination relative the columns, a broken line or in form of a smooth curve for preventing simultaneous appearance of completely illuminated cells in all columns of the light-sensitive cells when the plane gate moves.

EFFECT: high quality of measuring small displacements and simple design of the device.
