FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device for detecting infrared radiation has a resistive imaging bolometer (102) meant for electrical connection with a circuit (22) for measuring resistance of the bolometer, in which there is a means (32) of controlling resistance of the imaging bolometer by feeding current into the bolometer. The system for detecting infrared radiation has an array of said devices. The method of reading an imaging bolometer in a system for detecting infrared radiation involves controlling resistance of the bolometer by a given resistance value which is common for all bolometers in the array of the system, at least once in each bolometer reading cycle by feeding current into it.

EFFECT: eliminating the undesirable relationship between the time constant of bolometers and their thermal resolution.
