FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: radio-navigation field (RNF) is formed; configuration of coverage area is formed with boundaries represented with geographical (spatial) coordinates; boundaries of bas stations and other considerable objects (an electronic terrain map) is transmitted together with additional information in RNF signals; mobile station determines its location as per RNF signals, and namely, when it crosses the boundaries of coverage zones, it transmits the obtained coordinates, velocity and direction of movement to the network, performs the selection of service base station in case a roaming and/or a handover procedure (including vertical one) is required, as well as in standby mode. Mobile station uses RNF signals to determine the velocity of its movement, and namely to determine the interval of calculation of its location coordinates.
EFFECT: improving the efficiency owing to reducing the load on the network equipment by excluding the necessity of performing the analysis of signal level of mobile station when performing the service transfer procedure, improving the location determination accuracy and minimising ping-pong effect.
