FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: liquid crystal panel has a pair of substrates facing each other; a liquid crystal layer in between the pair of substrates; and a sealing part lying on the periphery between the substrates. A levelling film is formed on the surface of at least one of the pair of substrates for orientation of liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer. The boundary part, which is formed from the material of the levelling film, is formed with a larger thickness than the levelling film near the inner surface of the sealing part.

EFFECT: preventing moisture penetration, improved image quality.
