FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of decontaminating surface-contaminated articles made from metal alloys or fragments thereof involves applying a reagent containing potassium, sodium and sulphur, heating the surface, cooling the surface and removing the formed dross. Before applying the reagent, the surface is douched with water. The reagent used is in form of powder in which at least 80% of the particles are smaller than 1 mcm. Nano-sized particles of the powder of the reagent (at least 80%) primarily have size of up to 100 nm.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of the process of decontaminating articles made from metal alloys which are surface-contaminated with radionuclides, cuts the decontamination time and cuts the amount of radioactive wastes.
