FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of chemical decontamination of radioactively contaminated metals. Method of decontaminating surface contaminated articles made from metal alloys or fragments thereof involves applying on decontaminating surface powder reagent, in which at least 80 % of particles are less than 1 µm in size, containing potassium, sodium and sulphur; heating the surface; its cooling and cleaning of formed scale. Powder reagent is applied on the dry surface. Layer of synthetic varnish with ignition temperature of 210-250 °C is applied on the surface treated with the reagent.
EFFECT: invention increases the efficiency of decontamination of surface contaminated articles made from metal alloys or fragments thereof due to boosted contact of reagent with radionuclides, which are located in open pores, cracks and other defects on the surface, at simultaneous increase of its economical efficiency due to reduced consumption of reagent powder.
