FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method relates to practical methods of analysing available index of hulls of ships of length over 80 metres using nondestructive diagnostics on the basis of investigation of structural destruction of hull structural steel caused by material fatigue. Ship hull available index is estimated by comparing residual design life with specified life. Said residual design life is determined analytically using the steel endurance strength defined on the basis of structural damage of one of cover plates measured by metallographic method at the hull major-load section. Specified life represents total duration of probable wave effects onto ship hull during ship residual life estimated by probability of said wave effects and probability of ship serviceability during said period.
EFFECT: higher validity of estimation.
