FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in processing saponite-bearing ore. Proposed method comprises natural slow continuous freezing of suspension of tailings over the entire suspension depth in winter to design height, thawing is in summer with separation into compacted sediment and clarified water, draining said clarified water, extracting said sediment by appropriate means and stocking it in storages. Subjected to compaction are saponite suspension sediments containing in slurry tailings to be pumped continuously and in turns into one of two sites released after extraction of compacted sediment. For suspension freezing, sites are used each being protected by dam arranged over its outline to controlled gates for release of clarified water into pool located below the level of said sites.

EFFECT: extraction of saponite for reuse, reduced power consumption.
