SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mining and specifically to methods of producing hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon-containing sand. The invention relates to a method of producing hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon-containing sand using an aqueous solution of a reagent which is capable of emulsifying hydrocarbons in an aqueous medium, involving mixing sand with said aqueous reagent solution to obtain a mixture of sand and a water-hydrocarbon emulsion, wherein the reagent used is a composition which contains a polyelectrolyte, a nonionic surfactant and an alkaline agent which is capable of emulsifying hydrocarbons in an aqueous medium to obtain an unstable emulsion; an aqueous solution of said composition with concentration of 2-6 wt % is used in amount of at least 1.0 m³ per ton of sand, wherein the mixture obtained from mixing sand with the aqueous solution of the composition undergoes gravitational settling with separation of said mixture into an organic phase which contains hydrocarbons, an aqueous phase which contains aqueous solution of the composition and a solid phase, followed by extraction of the organic phase as the end product.
