METHOD OF SKIMMING AND REMOVAL OF OIL FROM WATER RESERVOIR SURFACE, DEVICE FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC E02B15/04 E02B15/10 

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: boom is installed from oil skimmer and oil spill is compressed and localised on water surface. Device for skimming and removal of oil from water surface is assembled and prepared for work. The device includes oil-skimming cone with flexible hoses, compressor, vacuum pumps with flexible hoses and receiving tank. Oil-skimming cone is designed as separate gimbal-mounted elements. The cone is equipped with floats, weights and interconnected leakproof flexible inserts. Compressor is additionally equipped with cooling unit. Oil-skimming cone is put on water and is hinged to the vessel. Then a flexible hose is connected to compressor and to cooling unit and the other flexible hose is connected to vacuum pump and to receiving tank. Preliminary cooled air with temperature below 0°C is pumped under localised oil spill. Layer of water with oil dispersed with air is formed and preserved on place of contact of oil spill with subjacent water. After actuation of vacuum pump oil is removed from localised oil spill through flexible inserts and hoses and is supplied to receiving tank. During skimming and removal of oil spill from water surface coefficient of kinematic viscosity of oil is maintained above 20 cSt.

EFFECT: improving efficiency of works on skimming and removal of oil from water surface both in windless and in stormy periods of year.
