FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention describes a method of determining chlorine-substituted phenols in aqueous media, involving chemical modification thereof, extraction concentration and gas chromatographic detection, where at the chemical modification step, the modifying reagent used is iodine in amount of 0.01-0.03% in the presence of beta-alanine and ammonia in amount of 0.5-2.0% and 0.005-0.02% of the weight of the aqueous sample, respectively.
EFFECT: invention provides a lower detection level for chlorine-substituted phenols in water.
