FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: provided is a region for survey using a plurality of discrete volumes of a radiation source; the survey region has at least one layer of a geological structure and the characteristics of the gamma-ray (GR) logging probe are simulated by determining the number of gamma radiation particles emitted by each volume of the radiation source from the plurality of discrete volumes of the radiation source which could have fallen on a point GR detector without scattering in the propagation path between one emitting volume of the radiation source and the point GR detector; gamma radiation particles falling on the point GR detector without scattering are zero-scattering gamma radiation particles.
EFFECT: providing sufficiently accurate simulation results using relatively low computational power and short time.
