SUBSTANCE: matrix substrate (10) includes an insulating substrate; a plurality of scanning lines (2) on the insulating substrate; a plurality of data lines (1), each arranged such that it crosses the plurality of scanning lines (2) on the insulating substrate; image element electrodes (13), each in form of a rectangle. Each of the image element electrodes (13) is connected through a switching element (5) to the corresponding scanning line (2) and the corresponding data line (1), has a long side lying along the direction in which the plurality of scanning lines (2) pass and a short side lying along the direction in which the plurality of data lines (1) pass, and has cut-off sections (13a) made by cutting off two corners of each of the image element electrodes. The cut-off sections are configured to serve as a means of separating alignment.
EFFECT: providing sufficient output of the product when making a liquid crystal display device, improved display quality.
