SUBSTANCE: system comprises: a content subscription server having a subscription database which contains an electronically maintained account of the subscriber of the content subscription service, the electronically maintained account indicating the current balance of means of payment associated with subscription of the subscriber, wherein units of the means of payment may be exchanged for commodities or services which have practical usefulness; the subscription server is configured to manage the exchange rate database which maintains the current exchange rate of the means of payment to the agreed money for subscription, wherein the exchange rate database stores information on a plurality of exchange rates and conditions associated with the plurality of exchange rates, changes in the current exchange rate of the payment means to the agreed money, maintained in the exchange rate database, for subscription based on one of said conditions, allowing a subscriber to use the balance in order to obtain content elements from a content source, wherein each content element has an associated value in units of the means of payment, based on the changed exchange rate; reducing the balance by the sum used to obtain content elements; and updating the balance by adding a sum corresponding to acquisition of the means of payment received from the subscriber.
