SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by improvement of handover procedure control in order to transfer terminal device control from an initial cell to a target cell in a communication network with a retransmission extension. Retransmission units actively support the handover procedure by initiation of the handover procedure, configuration of a retransmitted line and buffering of subscriber data in a retransmission unit.

EFFECT: saving resources of an initial central unit and prevention of data loss in process of handover.
