FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: method is realised by changing antenna gain towards a target during one probe signal. Disclosed are two methods of determining angular coordinates of a target, which involve probing the angular direction and receiving signals reflected from the target with different antenna gain values in the direction of the target, determining deviation of the probing direction from the direction of the target based on an established relationship between amplitude ratio of the received signals and the deviation value. In the first method, when receiving broadband signals reflected from the target, the antenna beam scans the angular sector around the probing direction with a period shorter than the signal duration, and the signals for determining deviation of the probing direction from the direction of the target are the side lobe of a compressed signal formed by scanning with the beam antenna and the main lobe of the compressed signal. In the second method, when receiving broadband signals reflected from the target, the beam shape of the antenna is changed by modulating its amplitude or phase distribution with a period shorter than the signal duration, and the signals for determining deviation of the probing direction from the direction of the target are the side lobe, which is formed by modulation, and the main lobe of the compressed signal.
EFFECT: enabling determination of angular coordinates of a target during fluctuation of secondary emission of the target, with a single-channel design of the radar receiver.
