SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a recording device which is configured to move a recording head back-and-forth so as to record, the recording device having a multi-value data storage unit, a template storage unit, a generation unit which is configured to generate dot data for a predetermined value from the multi-value data, an information storage unit configured to store information for identification of the last dot template in the set of dot data and a control unit which is configured to update initial information stored in an initial information storage unit, based on the identification information stored in the information storage unit.
